Here’s a fact about myself that I’m not afraid to admit: I am an appreciator of classical and 20th century music. “Oh What a Night” by the Four Seasons, as seen on Jersey Boys, has quite a catchy tune. I’ve also stumbled upon Mel Torme’s “April Showers”. But it wasn’t until a few weeks ago that I’ve considered getting a record player. You know, one of those black-disk-playing machines with the large speaker at the top? I know there are iPods, computers, and electronic speakers around, but, just like typewriters, I like the look and feel of record players.
Of course, the only places where you’ll find those today are in museums and antique shops. I wonder if I can get one off eBay or Amazon, along with the Jersey Boys collection of records.
Still, I think I’ll stick to my digital copies of those songs. Sure, records are good-looking, but it’s at the risk of sound quality and functionality. I’ll probably keep one in the future as an antique, but I’ll stick to iTunes for now.
